Job Description

Duties:

(1) Supports mechanical engineering firm specializing in the mathematical modeling and analysis of contact and stress in gear systems, and the acoustic and wave propagation analysis of sound pressure levels given off by vibrating machinery. (2) Interfaces with customers who have gear design and manufacturing operations. (3) Develops, tests, analyzes, and provides customers with engineering support for gear systems and machinery. (4) Uses and programs gear contact analysis software, acoustic analysis software, the finite element method, and boundary element methods to carry out duties.

Requirements:

(1) Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering. (2) Must have completed graduate courses in Finite Element Methods and Acoustics. (3) Must have one month of industrial experience in gear design and manufacturing. (4) Knowledge of bevel gear geometry, micro-geometry, and gear tooth stiffness estimation using finite element methods. (5) Experience writing gear mesh generation codes in C++ and FORTRAN for gear design and analysis software. (Experience and education may be gained concurrently.)
